Reminders
Will reminders sound when my iPhone is on silent or in Focus?
Reminders are time sensitive, so Focus and the Scheduled Summary do not hold them back. For the doses you cannot miss, turn on critical alerts: they sound even with the silent switch on or in Do Not Disturb.
What schedules can I set?
Several times a day, certain weekdays, every few days, or only when needed. Each medication can have its own schedule.
What happens when I travel to another time zone?
Reminders follow the local time on their own, so a dose at 8:00 stays at 8:00 wherever you are.
Can I mark a dose without opening the app?
Yes. Tap a dose in the Home Screen widget, or act on it from the Live Activity on the Lock Screen.
The scanner
How does the scanner work?
Point the camera at the barcode or DataMatrix code on the box. PillRem looks it up in its database, built from official data from more than 40 countries, and fills in the name, active ingredient, form and expiry date. It works offline.
What if my medication is not recognised?
Add it by hand in a few seconds. Everything else in PillRem works the same.
Does the scanner read the expiry date?
Yes, when the box has a DataMatrix code that includes it, which is common on medication packs in Europe.
Family
Can I manage medication for my parents or children?
Yes. You can create up to 8 profiles, each with its own medications, reminders and history, and switch between them with one tap.
Privacy and sync
Do I need an account?
No. PillRem has no account and never asks for your email.
Where is my data stored?
On your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud. The developer never has access to it.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Reminders, the scanner, the dose log and the charts work offline. iCloud syncs your devices when there is a connection.
How do I sync my iPhone and iPad?
Sign in to the same Apple Account on both and keep iCloud turned on for PillRem. Doses appear on the other device in seconds.
Pricing
Is PillRem free?
Yes. PillRem is free to download and free to use, with limits and without ads.
How do I cancel Pro or ask for a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Is there an Android version?
No. PillRem is made for iPhone and iPad.
Medical use
Does PillRem give medical advice?
No. PillRem helps you remember and track what your doctor or pharmacist has prescribed. Always follow their instructions, and talk to them before changing any treatment.
